Every year, thousands of Afro-Caribbeans lead a sanctifying pilgrimage into the coastal town of Portobelo, Panama, culminating in a festival devoted to a black-skinned Jesus Christ. In the 24 hours leading up to the final procession, some of his most devout followers share how they came to believe in the legend of Cristo Negro.
